This page covers the TruWage website (truwage.app) and the TruWage apps for iPhone and Android. TruWage is made by NorseHorse, an independent developer. Questions go to NorseHorse@norsehor.se.
The website
The paycheck checker and tip credit calculator
Both run in your browser. The page downloads the public rules for your state (the same JSON files anyone can open at /data/rules/) and does the math on your device. What you type is never sent to us or anyone else.
The checker saves your entries in your browser's local storage so you can come back to them. That copy stays in your browser. The "Clear my entries" button deletes it, and so does clearing your browser's site data.
When a check finishes, the page sends one anonymous count: the state you picked and the overall result (looks right, worth a closer look, or may be underpaid). The same goes for the tip credit calculator (the state only) and for copying the payroll note. These counts carry no amounts, no hours, no identifier and no address, and are added to a daily total.
Page counts
We count page views with a small counter we wrote ourselves, on our own server. For each view it adds one to a daily total for that page, broken down by language, by the website you came from (the site name only, like google.com) and by phone or computer. It sets no cookies, stores no IP address, and keeps nothing that could connect two visits to the same person. Bots are not counted. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, the visit is not counted at all.
There are no third-party analytics, ad networks, social media pixels, embedded videos or outside fonts on this site. Every file loads from truwage.app.
The app waitlist
If you join the waitlist we store your email address, which phone you picked (if any), and your language, so the one launch email goes out in the right language. We use it to send a confirmation and that launch email, and nothing else. We never share or sell it. The link in the confirmation email deletes your address, or you can email us and we will delete it by hand.
To stop abuse, the signup form keeps a one-way hash of your network address for up to a day. The hash uses a key that changes daily, so it cannot be turned back into an address, and it is deleted after a day.
Server logs
Like any web server, ours writes standard access and error logs, which include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. They are not used for analytics, not shared, and are rotated and deleted on a short schedule.
The apps
Your pay stubs and checks
Stub scanning reads the photo or PDF on your phone. Checks run on your phone. Saved checks, your job details and your payday reminder settings are stored on your phone. None of it is sent anywhere unless you sign in to back it up (below).
Rule updates
The apps download updated wage rules from our server so a new minimum wage or a corrected rule reaches you without an app update. That request contains no information about you, your stubs or your checks.
Optional: signing in with Cashout
Cashout is our tip and shift tracker. If you sign in with a Cashout account inside TruWage, TruWage reads your Cashout jobs and shifts to fill in hours and tips, and backs up your saved TruWage checks and jobs to that account. Signing in is optional; TruWage works fully without it. The data synced to that account is covered by the Cashout privacy policy at cashout.tips/privacy.
You can delete the account from inside the app (Settings, then Account) or by following the steps on the delete account page. Deleting it removes the account and everything synced to it. Checks saved on your phone stay on your phone until you delete them or remove the app.
Payday reminders
Reminders are scheduled by your phone's own notification system. No reminder data is sent to us.
What we never do
- Show ads or let ad networks track you.
- Sell or share your information with employers, data brokers or law firms.
- Refer you to lawyers or take a cut of any claim.
- Upload your pay stubs.
Children
TruWage is meant for working adults and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Your choices
Wherever you live, you can ask what we hold about you (for most people, nothing, or a waitlist email) and ask us to delete it. Email NorseHorse@norsehor.se and we will answer within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already have, we will say so on the site before it takes effect.
